Caddo Gap, AK – CADDO GAP, Ark. - Flash floods around a campground in western Arkansas have drowned 10 people after four to six inches of rain swamped the area, officials told NBC News on Friday.

Search-and-rescue efforts were ongoing for campers who were still trapped at the Albert Pike Campground. State police spokesman Bill Sadler said the National Guard sent in helicopters.

Flash flooding was reported in the area at 5:58 a.m. CT, according to the National Weather Service. Parts of the state remain under a flash flood watch.
