Arkansas River Development: An Update

By Rich Fisher

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's StudioTulsa, we offer an update on the Arkansas River Corridor Project. While area voters did narrowly reject a proposed sales-tax increase in 2007, which was intended to fund the Arkansas River Master Plan, work has nevertheless continued (slowly, admittedly) to ensure funding of this project through federal sources. Those who support the development of our community's river tend to view the 2007 ballot-box defeat as a dismissal of certain funding-mechanisms, not as a rejection of the question of river development per se. One such supporter is our guest today, Gaylon Pinc, who managed the environmental and engineering arm of INCOG for 30+ years and is now with Program Management Group (or PMg), a Tulsa-based firm that contracts with Tulsa County vis a vis the Arkansas River projects funded under Vision 2025.
