Ben Taylor On Mountain Stage
Originally published on Mon November 26, 2012 11:13 am
Ben Taylor makes his second appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live on the campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown. As the son of Carly Simon and James Taylor, Ben Taylor writes songs steeped in folk and pop traditions, but he also moves easily through soul, country and funk.
Taylor's set opens with the funny "Your Boyfriend's a Really Nice Guy" before being joined by his own band, which includes Mark Posey on drums, Ben Thomas on bass and his songwriting partner David Saw on lead guitar and backing vocals. They play a generous 41-minute set, which includes two songs cut from the radio broadcast for time. Ben Taylor's most recent album is titled Listening.
