Cop Cars Repossessed
By Associated Press
Vinita, OK –
THIBODAUX, La. (AP) An Oklahoma car dealership is suing a southeast Louisiana town for allegedly failing to pay for two police vehicles.
Napoleonville's police department planned to purchase two 2009 Dodge Chargers with federal stimulus money, but Mayor Ron Animashaun says the money was late in arriving due to a delay in submitting the necessary paperwork.
Joe Watt Auto Sales of Vinita, Okla., repossessed the cars in October and filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against the town. The car dealer is seeking $20,000 in damages.
Watt says he has sold thousands of cars to police departments and never had to repossess a vehicle before.
