"Off the Floor: Creations in Studio K" --- a Trio of New, Exciting Works --- Returns to Tulsa Ballet

On this edition of ST, we chat with Marcello Angelini, who's been the Artistic Director at Tulsa Ballet since 1995. Angelini tells us about the latest production from his world-renowned company, which opened over the weekend, on the 3rd, and which will continue through Sunday the 12th at Tulsa Ballet's Studio K space, near 45th Place and Peoria Avenue in Tulsa. This show is actually a gathering of three distinct, recently choreographed dance works, and it's the sixth annual presentation in Tulsa Ballet's ongoing "Off the Floor" series, which always offers a trio of new "creations" by today's leading, still-active choreographers. This time around, "Off the Floor" will present Matthew Neenan's "The Fullest Recreation," Nicolo Fonte's "Axis Mundi," and Ma Cong "Juxtaposed" --- three abstract yet quite different works that will all be appearing in their world premieres. Angelini also talks about a special "Last Dance Celebration" that Tulsa Ballet will present later this month --- on Friday the 17th, at TU's Lorton Performance Center --- in honor of three outstanding dancers who'll soon be retiring from the company: Alexandra Bergman, Ma Cong, and Alfonso Martin. (For more information about the ballet's current "Off the Floor: Creations in Studio K" show, including ticket details, please see this link from the Tulsa Ballet website.)
