GRDA To Aid in Michael Recovery

GRDA

31 GRDA employees left Oklahoma, headed for Tallahassee, Florida, where they will assist the City of Tallahassee with restoration of the local electric system following the damage left behind by Hurricane Michael. They are making the trip as part of a nationwide mutual aid program among the nation’s public power utilities, administered by the American Public Power Association.

This trip comes on the heels of GRDA’s response to Hurricane Florence in North Carolina just last month. Responding to a request from the state of North Carolina, administered through the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, GRDA Police officers, along with personnel from Mayes County Emergency Management, Pryor Fire Department, Locust Grove Fire Department and the Quapaw Tribe Fire/EMS, helped with water rescues and evacuations for eight days near Whiteville, North Carolina.
