KWGS Wins Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters Awards

Two Outstanding Achievement awards were presented to KWGS on Friday, April 19, 2013 by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters.

For his Live From The Cain's Ballroom broadcast of October 13, 2012, Swing On This host John Wooley received a Special Programming award.

That program featured The Tulsa Playboys and special guest, Cowbop, for two hours of western swing music celebrating the 100th birthday of western swing great, Johnnie Lee Wills.

KWGS News Director John Durkee won a Feature Award for his story From Broker to Clergy: A Local Man's 9-11 Story, which aired during Morning Edition on September 11, 2012.

Broken Arrow’s Bill Hemm was on the 63-floor was in the World Trade Center South Tower when the airplanes hit. His life drastically changed course after that day - he's now the senior pastor at Forest Park Christian Church at 91st and Mingo in Tulsa.
