Lots of Excellent Live Music in Bartlesville: The 2013 OK Mozart Festival Runs June 9th - 15th

On this installment of ST, we speak with veteran classical musician and conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos, who was named Artistic Director of the OK Mozart Festival last fall. Kitsopoulos tells us that this well-loved seven-day festival (now in its 29th year) will carry, this time around, the theme of "America, the Beautiful" --- thematic programming, in fact, is something he hopes to do much more of in Bartlesville --- and that this year's OKM will thus feature the music of such beloved American composers as George Gershwin, John Williams, Harold Arlen, Henry Mancini, John Corigliano, Jerod Tate, and more. A few of the notable performances on hand will include a "Wizard of Oz" movie screening with live music by the Amici New York Theater (on the 9th), an evening of bluegrass with banjo wizard Noam Pikelny (on the 10th), a chamber-music offering by the world-renowned Mirò Quartet (on the 11th), an ever-so-swingin' show with the Austin-based Hot Club of Cowtown (on the 13th), and much more. You'll find a detailed rundown of this year's OK Mozart Festival, as well as links for purchasing tickets and artists' bios, at this page from the OKM site.
