Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's show, we speak with Lise Glaser, the renowned local oboe-player and principal oboe chair with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. Glaser will perform as a soloist on Saturday night (the 24th) at the Tulsa PAC, when the TSO presents Marcello's "Oboe Concerto" as a part of its "Music of Italy" program. David Lockington will be the Guest Conductor for this concert, which will also feature Respighi's "Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No.1" and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 ("Italian"). We chat with Glaser in some detail about learning and performing (and "ornamenting") Marcello's standard work for the oboe, and about her own life and work (and ongoing challenges) as a "full time" classical musician. (For more information on the TSO's upcoming concert, visit tulsasymphony.org.)
