Alexander Mickelthwate Philippe Quint Classics 7

Guest violinist Philippe Quint joined the OKC Philharmonic and music director designate Alexander Mickelthwate for Classics 7, the concert given on Saturday, April 7th at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City. The colorful program of 20th century works features the Tangazo; Variaciones sobre Buenos Aires of Astor Piazzolla, the Violin Concerto in D Major, Op 35 by Erich Wolfgang Korngold and a Suite of excerpts selected by Maestro Michelthwate from the ballet Romeo and Juliet, Op 64 by Sergei Prokofiev. Mr. Quint shares his appreciation of the OKC Philharmonic and its retiring music director Joel Levine, and offers his insights about the Korngold concerto, a signature work in his performing repertory.
