StudioTulsa on Health: Getting to Know the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health

Aired on Thursday, July 18th.

On this edition of ST on Health, we learn about the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health (TCBH), a state-operated facility that functions as a part of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Dr. John Schumann, our guest host, welcomes Leah Price, the executive director at TCBH, who tells us what this organization is, how it operates, and why it matters. Located in midtown Tulsa at 2323 South Harvard, TCBH is a 56-bed, in-patient complex that provides a safe, supportive, and fully integrated environment for therapeutic interventions to persons aged 18 or older who: a.) are dealing with any sort of mental health crisis, with or without substance abuse, and b.) are deemed to be medically stable. Staffed by psychiatrists, social workers, and other professionals, TCBH is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. Price also speaks on our show today about various mental health issues confronting both Oklahoma and the U.S. at present, and about her own considerable experiences working with mentally ill and/or addicted individuals.
