Tulsa, OK – An effort to reduce the number of lay-offs is underway in the Tulsa Public Schools. A retirement incentive fund has been created by philanthropic groups, but Superintendent Doctor Keith Ballard says the million dollars must be matched.

Without efforts to get older teachers to retire, younger teachers with less tenure would be laid-off because of state budget cuts.
