Oklahoma City, OK – Corporation Commissioner dropping out of race
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An official with Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Jeff Cloud's campaign for U.S. Congress says Cloud is dropping out of the race.
Campaign consultant Pat McFerron said Wednesday that Cloud has a non-life-threatening health condition that has forced him to suspend his bid.
McFerron says Cloud will have to have surgery to remove sinus polyps, but that he will continue serving as a member of the Corporation Commission.
Cloud was seeking the Republican nomination for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin, who is running for governor.
McFerron says Cloud didn't believe he could fulfill his obligations as a commissioner, a father, a husband and a candidate given his health concerns.
