Mayor Won't Back Safety Tax

KWGS News File Photo

Yesterday morning, we told you about a proposal for a Public Safety Tax in Tulsa. This morning, we can tell you that plan is DOA on the 15th floor of City Hall.

A Spokesman for the mayor says Mayor Bartlett is not in favor such a proposal right now. The spokesman says the mayor would rather look at ways to streamline efficiencies.

A Citizens Task Force drafted the public safety proposal and has presented it to the City Council.

The report recommended adding staff to the 911 Center to eliminate response delays. It also called for adding additional police and fire fighters to the Tulsa ranks.
