State Releases School Funding Fugures

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State Department of Education has released initial state funding to school districts that include an increase over last year.

The department said Thursday that schools were sent funding amounting to $3,038.60 per student — an increase of $8.60 per student from fiscal year 2013. The department said the increase is due largely to an additional $21.5 million allocated by the Legislature during this year's legislative session.

The department says the state has seen an increase of 7,358 students since the end of the 2011-2012 school year.
