Police Chief Chuck Jordan

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan says the department will release emergency calls regarding an officer-involved shooting earlier this month.

The Tulsa World earlier reported that the city denied its request for any emergency calls regarding a September 1st police-involved fatal shooting at the Best Budget Inn. The city said the open records law doesn't cover audio recordings.

But on Friday, Jordan said in a statement that the department will release the calls to the newspaper. He says the city's legal department told him it's a discretionary issue and each recording can be considered on a case-by-case basis.

He says the department remains committed to transparency.
