Altus Airman Arrested with Bomb-Making Materials
ALTUS, Okla. (AP) — An airman at Altus Air Force Base in southwestern Oklahoma has been arrested after authorities say materials used to make bombs were found in his home.
Authorities say 26-year-old Timothy Francis Carey is charged with possession of bomb-making materials with intent to either intimidate or harm another person or to damage property.
Carey is being held in the Jackson County jail pending a hearing scheduled for next week. Court records do not list an attorney for him.
Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy told reporters that the investigation began after witnesses told authorities that Carey said he had explosives and could use them. Murphy says no bombs were found, but materials for making a bomb were recovered.
