The National Weather Service in Tulsa has placed the Tulsa area in a WINTER STORM WATCH for Saturday evening and Sunday. Below is the text from the Tulsa Weather office:

EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WATCH FOR SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING...

FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
 * IN OKLAHOMA...CHEROKEE...ADAIR...CREEK...OKFUSKEE...OKMULGEE...
   WAGONER...TULSA...ROGERS...MAYES...DELAWARE...PAWNEE...OTTAWA...
   PUSHMATAHA...WASHINGTON...OSAGE...CRAIG...NOWATA...PITTSBURG...
   SEQUOYAH...MCINTOSH...MUSKOGEE...LE FLORE...LATIMER AND HASKELL.
   IN ARKANSAS...WASHINGTON...MADISON...CRAWFORD...BENTON...
   SEBASTIAN...CARROLL AND FRANKLIN.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...
 * A VERY COLD ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL PLUNGE SOUTHWARD INTO EASTERN
   OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY
   MORNING. MEANWHILE...A POTENT AND FAST MOVING SHORTWAVE TROUGH
   WILL APPROACH THE REGION SATURDAY NIGHT...MOVING ACROSS ON
   SUNDAY. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP FIRST ACROSS THE
   NORTH SATURDAY NIGHT AND EVENTUALLY SPREAD SOUTH AND EAST
   SUNDAY BEFORE ENDING FROM WEST TO EAST. TEMPERATURE PROFILES
   FAVOR FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET FOR THE BULK OF THE EVENT...WITH
   THE HEAVIEST ICING EXPECTED OVER NORTHWEST ARKANSAS AND
   ADJACENT EAST CENTRAL OKLAHOMA. THE COLD AIR WILL BE DEEP
   ENOUGH TO SUPPORT SLEET OVER THE REMAINDER OF EASTERN
   OKLAHOMA...AFTER A BRIEF PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN NEAR ONSET. A
   SECONDARY BATCH OF PRECIPITATION IS POSSIBLE ACROSS MAINLY
   NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND FAR NORTHWEST ARKANSAS SUNDAY
   NIGHT...AND BY THIS TIME TEMPERATURE PROFILES WOULD FAVOR SNOW
   BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION ENDS AROUND MIDNIGHT.

 * A HALF INCH TO INCH AND A HALF OF SLEET ACCUMULATION AND AROUND
   A QUARTER INCH OR LESS OF ICE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED FROM
   SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING. AROUND AN INCH OF SNOW
   IS POSSIBLE ACROSS NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND FAR NORTHWEST
   ARKANSAS SUNDAY NIGHT.

IMPACTS...
 * ROADS...BRIDGES...AND OVERPASSES MAY BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS
   IN THE WATCH AREA...MAKING TRAVEL TREACHEROUS. POWER OUTAGES ARE
   POSSIBLE.

DEFINITION...
 * A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS A SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATION OF ICE OR
   SLEET IS EXPECTED IN THE WATCH AREA DURING THE NEXT 36 TO 72 HOURS.
