Reception Set for Artists at Oklahoma Capitol

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)  A reception is planned for several artists whose works are on display at the Oklahoma Capitol.

The Tuesday evening reception is free and open to the public.

The exhibits currently on display on the building's first floor include photography by Brett Deering of Oklahoma City in the north gallery and paintings by Tulsa artist James Gaar in the east gallery. Oklahoma City-based artist Diana Smith has a series of paintings of dogs of various breeds.

A separate exhibit includes five large-scale bronze statues by renowned Oklahoma Native American artist Allan Houser placed at various Capitol entrances. That exhibit continues through Dec. 15.

Houser's giant bronze sculpture "As Long as the Waters Flow" is on permanent display on the Capitol's south side.
