The Tulsa County District Attorney's office filed an affidavit Tuesday outlining the evidence against the man identified as the suspect in a string of sexual assaults.
Desmond Campbell died Tuesday morning from injuries sustained in a car crash. Tulsa Police said last week he was their suspect in seven attacks from June 5 to June 29.
"We believe the Tulsa community has a right to know the information upon which the Tulsa Police Department identified Mr. Campbell as their suspect," District Attorney Tim Harris said at a news conference.
The court filing shows similar accounts from each victim and says DNA evidence led police to name Campbell their suspect.
A search warrant issued July 3 allowed investigators to search Campbell's blue 2001 Honda Civic. In it, they found items taken from the last victim's home, which she identified Monday.
A judge issued a arrest warrant for Campbell before he died. Tulsa County Assistant District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler said he would have faced charges on 23 felony counts.
"Six counts of robbery, seven counts of burglary in the first degree and 10 counts of sexual assault," Kunzweiler said. "Those 10 counts of sexual assault involve allegations of sexual battery, attempted rape, rape in the first degree, rape by instrumentation."
The case is considered closed.
