Sales Tax Collections Down, Use Tax Collections Up in May for Tulsa

Oklahoma Watch

Last month’s numbers are in, and Tulsa’s sales tax collections continue to disappoint.

Sales tax revenue for mid-April through mid-May totaled $18.5 million dollars. That’s down 3.4 percent from a year ago, and it’s 5.3 percent below city budget estimates.

There is some good news. Use tax collections came in at $2.2 million, up nearly 12 percent from last year and more than 10 percent ahead of projections.

Total collections for both taxes so far this year are up less than 1 percent from a year ago. The revenues account for two-thirds of the city general fund.
