23 Dogs Rescued from Delaware County Home, Couple Arrested

Grove is in Delaware County.

Multiple complaints of animal cruelty and neglect have been lodged against a Delaware County couple after authorities removed 14 large dogs and nine puppies from their home.

The Tulsa World reports that Delaware County deputies and volunteers removed the dogs on Saturday. Officials also found an 8-foot by 10-foot mass grave on the property that contained the carcasses in black trash bags of 18 dogs, three rabbits and a cat.

Dr. Cari McDonald, a veterinarian, says the house where the dogs were found was not livable for animals, much less for humans.

A makeshift veterinarian clinic was set up to check the dogs for diseases. Volunteer Joleen Hanson says it looked like a case where someone tried to care for the dogs, but it just got out of hand.
