Freezing Rain Causes Lots of Crashes

A storm system brought ice to Oklahoma overnight, leaving roads slick and causing numerous schools to close, while tornadoes are possible in neighboring Arkansas.

In Oklahoma, numerous traffic accidents were reported Thursday on slick roads. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation reports slick highways and bridges across the northern half of the state while schools and universities along and north of Interstate 40 have closed, including Oklahoma State University, the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University.

The National Weather Service says the precipitation has ended in Oklahoma, but very cold temperatures will continue with wind chills ranging from below 10 degrees to the low 20s.
