Health Department Reports Active Cases of COVID-19 Below 1,000 as Oklahoma Passes 6,100 Total

NIAID-RML

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported 47 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the state's total number of confirmed cases to 6,137.

Five more deaths were reported, including three in Tulsa County. Tulsa County has the second-most deaths in the state, 47, behind Oklahoma County's 58.

Since March 18, 318 Oklahomans have died from COVID-19. Over the course of the outbreak, 941 people have been hospitalized.

The health department reported 109 new patients as recovered on Tuesday, bringing the total number of Oklahomans considered to have recovered from COVID-19 to 4,823. That leaves the state with 996 known, active cases of the illness.

About one in three of Oklahoma's active cases of COVID-19 are in Texas County. A Seaboard Foods pork processing plant in Guymon is the site of an outbreak that triggered a state and federal response. Officials set out to test all 2,700 employees at the plant and as many members of the community as possible, regardless of whether they were showing symptoms.

Only five deaths have been reported in Texas County.

The state has not released updated testing data since Friday.
