$1.2-Million Dollar Gift to Save Teacher Jobs

KWGS/TPS 20

More teacher jobs are saved in the Tulsa Public Schools! Tulsa School Superintendent Doctor Keith Ballard announced last night that the school district has received another large community donation.

During last night's board meeting it was announced the district is receiving a one-time donation of $1.2 million. The name of the donor is not being released. Two weeks ago, Ballard announced a $600,000 gift.

With at least one-point-eight million dollars in one-time grants, 94-positions will be saved. The school had been looking at trimming 75-teaching slots because of a lack of state funding. But without additional funding from the state, the school district will be looking at the same cuts, next year.

Meanwhile, Tulsa School Board Member Anna America announced her resignation from the board. She is moving out of her elected district.
