12-Year-Old Boy, Man Wounded in Okmulgee Shooting

Okmulgee Police

OKMULGEE, Okla. (AP) — A 12-year-old boy is listed in critical condition following a shooting in which the boy and a 21-year-old man were wounded.

Authorities say the shooting occurred early Saturday at a residence in Okmulgee.

Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice says the shooting occurred shortly before 6 a.m. when the older shooting victim, Leon Maurice Grant III, answered the door and saw a stranger standing there. Prentice says there was a brief conversation before the stranger opened fire.

Investigators say Grant was shot multiple times in the legs and that the child was shot in the head and ankle. The boy's name has not been released.

Grant told police he didn't know the man at the door. Police say they have no suspects.
