The Ambassadors: America's Diplomats on the Front Lines

Dec 6, 2019

At a time when America's foreign service professionals are front and center in the national debate, we hear the story of four exemplary ambassadors from the State Department's Near East bureau. Veteran foreign policy and national security journalist Paul Richter, formerly of the Los Angeles Times writes about six-time ambassador Ryan Crocker, five-time ambassador Anne Patterson, former US ambassador to Syria Robert Ford, and late ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens in his book "The Ambassadors: America's Diplomats on the Front Lines." The book also serves as a diplomatic history of the US's involvement in the Middle East since 9/11.
