Tulsa, OK – Over a dozen downtown property owners are going to court to seek to stop the assessment fee for the new downtown ballpark. The class action lawsuit names Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor and City Finance Director Mike Kier.

The plaintiffs claim the city denied their rights to protest the assessments benefit to their property. City Councilors approved the assessment fee earlier this month. The fee is 6 cents for each square foot of downtown property. Just over four-cents would go to the ballpark. The rest would be used for pay for downtown maintenance services.

In a related story, The Tulsa County Commission voted not to take part in a lawsuit against the assessment district.
