Border Fight Helping Keep Tulsa's 'ICE' Beds Filled

File Photo-NPR

The situation with illegal juvenile immigrants along the border is having an impact here in Tulsa County. Because of conditions there and federal orders on who can and cannot be detained, Tulsa Sheriff’s Major Shannon Clark says fewer illegals in the area are being picked up and detained here.

Clark says it doesn’t mean fewer illegal aliens are being held in Tulsa’s jail though, because the federal government is sending them here from overcrowded facilities in South Texas. Since ICE…Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement…pays a premium to use beds here, it does help with the jail budget.
