The Case for America --- as made by legendary reporter William Greider.

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's show, we hear from longtime American journalist William Greider. Greider has covered politics from the nation's capital for some forty years --- for The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and most recently The Nation (where he currently serves as national affairs correspondent). He's also a bestselling author (and frequent correspondent for Frontline on PBS), and his books --- much like his reportage --- invariably shed much useful light on America's social, political, and economic ills. Greider's newest book, which he paradoxically terms "an optimistic book about hard truths," is called "Come Home, America: The Rise and Fall (and Redeeming Promise) of Our Country." Democracy, as Greider reminds us, thrives upon participation --- and in these trying times, the moment for greatly increased civic participation has surely arrived.
