From Choregus Productions, a Newly Created Summer Heat International Dance Festival for Tulsa

Jul 28, 2016

On this installment of StudioTulsa, we speak with Ken Tracy, the founder and executive director of the non-profit Choregus Productions, which started offering performances of world-class music and contemporary dance to Tulsa audiences ten years ago. Tracy joins us to talk about a newly created dance festival from Choregus, which will kick off at the Tulsa PAC on Saturday night, the 30th, and which will present dance companies from the US, Israel, and France/Algeria. As noted at the Choregus website: "Tulsa becomes the regional focus of contemporary dance in late summer 2016 with the first-annual Summer Heat International Dance Festival. With 7 performances and numerous workshops, master classes, and outreach activities, the festival is full of dance experiences for everyone. The festival features 5 companies from 3 countries and will showcase the work of 11 of the world's most sought-after choreographers." Also on today's show, our commentator Connie Cronley is thinking about "Lonesome Dove," the Larry McMurtry masterpiece first published in 1985.
