City of Tulsa Changes Court, Parks, Animal Welfare Services

Some City of Tulsa services have changed to deal with COVID-19.

Municipal courts are closed for 30 days. Emergency cases are been seen as needed, but other court dates are automatically being rescheduled for 30 days after the original date. If the new date falls on a weekend, it will be moved to Monday.

"We’re even extending dates for folks that if they’re unable to pay their citations that say they’ve got a preset amount on it, we will also extend those, just give us a call," said Court Administrator Kelly Brader.

The municipal court’s number is 918-596-1625. They are answering phones Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tulsa Parks has closed all community and specialty centers and canceled all public programming and rentals until further notice. Refunds will be issued.

Outdoor spaces remain open, but officials ask people to keep themselves and others safe and healthy.

No more than 10 people at a time will be allowed in the city shelter to view animals or pick up a lost pet, and Tulsa Animal Welfare will focus on taking in sick animals.

Tulsa Animal Welfare Acting Manager Marshelle Freeman said people who pick up stray animals right now must be able to care for them.

"Don’t pick it up unless you can care for it, at least until this is over," Freeman said.

Animal Welfare is also asking people bringing animals to the shelter to use the north driveway and wait in their car until staff can help.
