Closed Rec Centers to be Demolished next Month

KWGS News

The wrecking ball is coming to seven Tulsa Park and Recreation Centers. The long closed facilities will be demolished because the upkeep has outstripped the property’s worth. The centers are: Clark, Franklin, Heller, Manion, Maxwell, Turner and Zeigler.

Mayor Bartlett says the centers will be replaced with other park amenities, such as splash pads, pavilions, walking trails, benches and security lighting.

Most of the centers also have swimming pools which will also be filled.

The first center to be demolished will be Turner on east 5th Place near Harvard. The work is expected to begin next month.
