Democratic Presidential Candidate Bloomberg Plans Tulsa Stop

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg is making his first campaign stop to Tulsa to announce a policy on “economic mobility.”

The former New York City mayor will deliver a speech Sunday outlining his proposal that he says will offer a new path toward prosperity for communities that are often overlooked.

Bloomberg is making the announcement at the Greenwood Cultural Center in Tulsa, which was built on the site of the city’s Black Wall Street. The thriving black community was razed to rubble during a racially motivated massacre in 1921 that left hundreds of black residents dead and thousands homeless.

Mechelle Brown, the center’s program coordinator, said former presidential candidates Beto O’Rourke of Texas and Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey both visited the center during their campaigns.
