Equality Center Mural Vandalized

Oklahomans for Equality

A vandal defaced a mural at a downtown Tulsa resource center for the LGBTQ community.

Monday night, someone spray painted the word "abomination" on the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center’s mural, also tagging over the face of gay playwright Lynn Riggs and on a nearby parking sign.

Oklahomans for Equality has the crime on video.

"It is clear that this is meant to scare and silence our community. What happened last night would be considered a hate crime in 31 states, but not Oklahoma," said a post on the Oklahomans for Equality Facebook page.

A police report has been filed.
