Tulsa, OK – We hear it from kids all the time: "Math is dull, math is boring, math doesn't hold my interest." But it doesn't have to be this way! On today's ST, we speak with Dr. Douglas Clements, who's published numerous research studies, books, and articles in the areas of mathematics education, educational technology, and early childhood education. Dr. Clements will deliver a lecture on this topic on Thursday the 15th at 6:30pm at the Schusterman Learning Center on the OU-Tulsa campus (at 41st and Yale). His talk is entitled "Finding Math in Everyday Activities with Young Children" --- and, as we learn on today's show, such kid-friendly activities as board games, rhythmic devices, dice or card games, puzzles, and building blocks are all part of the picture.
