Flooding Hits Oklahoma City

OKC Police

Severe storms are moving through central and southeastern Oklahoma, causing power outages and resulting in Oklahoma City firefighters responding to at least 15 high water assist calls.

Heavy rainfall, high winds and hail resulted in flooded streets, stranding some motorists in Oklahoma City.

More than 9,100 customers throughout the state were without power Sunday afternoon, according to the Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co.

The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of more than 60 mph were measured in Norman and Burneyville.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department says it responded to a house fire it suspects of being caused by a lightning strike. No injuries were reported.
