Tulsa, OK – Tulsa employees to take 1st of 8 unpaid days off
TULSA, Okla. (AP) City employees in Tulsa will be taking the first of eight unpaid furlough days later this week.
The days off without pay are part of the city's effort to reduce spending because of falling sales tax revenue. Police and firefighters are included although their furlough schedules will be different.
Employees will be off Thursday without pay and will be off again Friday for the July 4th holiday.
City Finance Director Mike Kier has said the furlough days would amount to a 3.1 percent salary reduction for each employee and will save the city $5.2 million.
