The U.S. Geological Survey has recorded four small earthquakes in northern Oklahoma.
No injuries or damage are reported.
A magnitude 3.1 quake was recorded at 6:10 a.m. Saturday 16 miles northwest of Fairview, 93 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. A magnitude 2.9 temblor was recorded at 7:08 a.m. 9 miles northwest of Pawnee, 70 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. Magnitude 1.4 and magnitude 2.2 quakes were also recorded near Pawnee.
Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest felt by humans and damage is not likely in quakes below magnitude 4.0.
An increase in magnitude 3.0 or stronger earthquakes in Oklahoma has been linked to underground disposal of wastewater from oil and natural gas production and state regulators have ordered some disposal wells to be closed.
