Kid Takes Parents Car and Crashes It on 61st

Tulsa Police

A 12-year-old boy is starting life on the wrong side of the law. He was taken into custody after apparently stealing his parents’ new Ford Escape for a joy ride.

The tween had not honed his driving skills. He crashed the vehicle into a duplex near 7200 East 61st. An elderly woman was in the duplex but was not injured.

The boy was treated at the scene by firefighters but then ran-off. He returned a short time later. Police say he kicked one of the officers.

He was placed in custody for joyriding in a stolen car and assault on a police officer.
