Local Help for Furloughed Federal Workers

Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma

As the federal shut down drags on, the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is offering help to furloughed federal workers. The Food Bank’s Eileen Bradshaw says the General Services Administration asked for their help in setting up a pop-up food market for the laid-off federal workers.  The event is this afternoon at the Food Bank at 1304 N. Kenosha.

She says more such pop-up markets will be held if the government shut down lingers.

Even though SNAP benefits for February have been pre-paid, Food Bank's Bradshaw worries those benefits will be used up quickly.
