Macy's Public Hearing Dates Set

KWGS News File Photo

Public hearings are now set on a proposal to give big tax breaks to Macy’s for a planned distribution center near Owasso.

The deal would forgive about two million dollars a year in property taxes. The land is in Tulsa County Commissioner John Smaligo’s district.

He says such incentives are necessary to lure companies here. He says without the incentives, the company would just go some place else.

Macy’s says the new center will provide more than a thousand jobs. The public hearings will be Jan. 21st and Feb. 3rd.
