The Moon Landing on Public Radio Tulsa

Wikipedia

On July 20th, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon. As we approach the 50th anniversary of that triumph,KWGS 89.5 Public Radio 89.5 will air a series of documentaries related to that giant leap for mankind.

We have documentaries from Richard Paul about the space race that began with Russia's Sputnik. How political fights in Washington and a fire that killed three astronauts almost derailed the Apollo program. And, we'll examine the space program in the context of the social and political movements of the 1960s.

From now through the anniversary of the historic launch on July 16th, you can hear a documentary related to the Apollo program each Thursday at 12:00 p.m. and Friday at 8:00 p.m.
