Nowata County Commissioners name Marta Hallett to be the new acting sheriff. She replaces Terry Barnett who resigned rather than carry out a judge's order to move inmates back into the dilapidated county jail.
Nowata County Commissioner Burke LaRue says appointing a new sheriff does not address the problem.
The jail was evacuated following a carbon monoxide issue. LaRue says the county is putting the inmates at risk.
