Join us for the next installment of All This Jazz, airing at 9pm local time on Saturday the 4th of July, right here on Public Radio 89.5 / KWGS-FM (and streaming at publicradiotulsa.org).
That's right, nine is our kick-off time...not ten...as we're pleased to announce that our program is now heard for three hours every Saturday night on this radio station (and its website), from 9pm till midnight.
We'll still deliver modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles -- and we'll still employ a "theme" in the 11-to-midnight hour of every broadcast. And we'll also, of course, continue to offer a 7pm re-airing of ATJ on Sunday evenings, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is Public Radio Tulsa's all-jazz HD Radio channel. The only thing that's really changing is that there's now gonna be more All This Jazz to dig each week -- exactly one hour more. Hooray. (Oh, and another thing that's changing is that our show will now immediately follow a terrific radio program from NPR Music called Jazz Night In America. It's about a year or so old, and it's hosted by Christian McBride; it's very great.)
And so, on our special Independence Day edition of ATJ, listen for jazz takes on "America the Beautiful" as well as "Battle Hymn of the Republic" -- plus we'll also spin tasty sides from the likes of Monty Alexander, Cal Tjader, Bill Charlap, Nina Simone, Mathias Eick (shown above), Aaron Diehl, and Stan Getz.
Join us! If you're any kind of a jazz buff, then All This Jazz is your stop on the dial. Your one and only stop, come to think of it.
(Two final points: ATJ playlist information can be found here...and we also maintain a Facebook page for the show. Thank you.)
