On the Next All This Jazz: More Great Albums of 2015

Tune in for the next edition of All This Jazz, beginning at 9pm on Saturday the 9th, right here on Public Radio 89.5 / KWGS-FM (and "live streaming" at publicradiotulsa.org).

From Bird to Trane, Ellington to Wynton, Armstrong to Brubeck, and Mary Lou Williams to Ethan Iverson, every ATJ broadcast offers three hours of modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles.

And we always work from a theme in the third and final hour of our show, from 11pm till midnight. This time out -- as we pretty much pick up right where we left off last week -- that theme will be More Great Jazz Albums of 2015. Thus we'll hear tuneful tracks from such outstanding recordings of last year as BREAK STUFF (Vijay Iyer Trio), SOUND PRINTS (Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas), and BIRD CALLS (Rudresh Mahanthappa), to name just a few.

And elsewhere in our show, we'll hear from, among others, guitarist Peter Leitch, trumpeter Tom Harrell, bassist Sam Jones, and the late-great pianist Paul Bley, who died earlier this week at 83.

Join us! If you're a jazz nut, then All This Jazz is all you, all the way.

(Two final points: ATJ playlist information can be found here, although you'll have to scroll down a bit...and we also maintain a Facebook page for our show. Thank you.)

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
