For those unfamiliar: ATJ is heard every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5, from 10pm till midnight. We always thereafter offer a 7pm re-airing of the program on the following Sunday evening, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our station's all-jazz HD Radio channel.
Each week, we spin excellent modern jazz, both recent and classic...from Geri Allen to Joe Zawinul, from Louis Armstrong to John Zorn. And the second half of our two-hour show, beginning at 11pm, invariably carries a theme.
This time around, on the very last day of the month, our theme will be Jazz Greats with February Birthdays. Thus we'll hear, in the thematic half of our proceedings, selections from Stan Getz (shown here), Joshua Redman, Bill Mays, Bob Stewart, and more. And in the first hour of the show, we'll dig tunes from the late-great Clark Terry as well as Cannonball Adderley, Jacky Terrasson, and many others.
