On the Next Broadcast of ATJ, We’re Spotlighting 21st-Century Jazz Music

Join us for the next All This Jazz, airing on Saturday the 12th at 9pm here on Public Radio 89.5 KWGS-FM (and online via live stream at PublicRadioTulsa.org).

From Armstrong to Ellington to Bird, from Monk to Goodman to Wynton, and from Miles to Metheny to MMW...ATJ offers three hours of modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles -- and we always employ a theme in the 11-to-midnight hour of our broadcast.

This time around, as we listen back to a stellar show that first aired in September, that theme will be 21st-Century Jazz -- and thus we’ll dig various recordings that've been made from 2000 onward. We'll hear vocalist Gregory Porter (from a 2013 CD), pianist Robert Glasper (from a 2007 release; shown here), guitarist Bill Frisell (recorded at a club in NYC in 2003), and much more.

And elsewhere in the program, we'll listen to the likable likes of Don Cherry, Pat Martino, and Sonny Clark, to name but a few.

Tune in, jazz fans! All This Jazz is "all you," for certain.

(Two final points: ATJ playlist information can usually be found here...and we also maintain a Facebook page for our show. Thank you kindly.)

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
