Tune in for the next broadcast of All This Jazz, beginning at 9pm on Saturday the 14th, right here on Public Radio 89.5 KWGS-FM...and online by way of our "Listen Live" stream at PublicRadioTulsa.org.
Our program delivers three hours of modern jazz -- across a whole range of styles -- each and every Saturday night, from 9 o'clock till midnight. (We also offer a 7pm re-airing of ATJ on Sunday evenings, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is Public Radio Tulsa's all-jazz HD Radio channel.)
From Geri Allen to Gerry Mulligan, Sonny Rollins to Sonny Clark, Mel Powell to Mel Lewis, and Dave Brubeck to Dave Douglas, All This Jazz is delighted by modern (and post-modern!) jazz in its many various forms, and we dig sharing the same with our listeners.
And in the theme-driven, 11-to-midnight hour of our next program, we'll highlight several different jazz players offering tunes in tribute to other jazz players. Thus we'll have Chet Baker playing a standard written in honor of Django Reinhardt, Don Pullen performing a composition dedicated to Muhal Richard Abrams, Elvin Jones (pictured here) doing a modal piece called "Dear John C.," and much more. (And elsewhere in the show, we'll hear from the likes of Edward Simon, Chico Hamilton, Joshua Redman, and Jason Marsalis.)
Join us! If you're a jazz fan, then All This Jazz is all you. End of story.
(Two final points, actually: ATJ playlist information can usually be found -- or at least searched for -- right about here...and we also maintain a Facebook page for our show. Thanks.)
