On the Next Installment of ATJ: Jazz Masters with November Birthdays

Kurt Elling. June Christy. Mose Allison (shown here). Chris Connor. Jane Monheit. Diana Krall. Patricia Barber.

All wonderful jazz singers, right? Indeed. And all are also jazz luminaries, as it happens, with November birthdays.

On the next edition of All This Jazz -- beginning at 10pm on Saturday the 8th on Public Radio 89.5 KWGS-FM, and online via live stream at PublicRadioTulsa.org -- such will be our second-hour theme: November B'Days.

And so we'll hear (in the latter half of our program, beginning at 11pm) from some of the crooners listed above as well as from various other jazz greats -- past and present alike -- who were born this very month. And in the first hour of ATJ, amid other highlights, we'll take a listen to "The Art of Conversation," the fine new duet CD by Kenny Barron and Dave Holland.

Each week, our show delivers 120 minutes of excellent modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles --- from Cannonball Adderley and Louis Armstrong to John Zorn and Joe Zawinul. And the second hour of the broadcast, as indicated above, always carries a theme.

Join us. It's all kinds of jazz and all kinds of fun. It's All This Jazz.

(Playlist info can be found here, by the way, and our Facebook page is at this link. Thanks.)

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
